"When we originally re-modeled our master bath, we believed we sufficiently qualified the general contractor with background checks and reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was a disaster and we ended up in lengthy litigation. Although we recovered our costs, we still had to face ripping out the bathroom again and starting over.

After more research and due diligence, we chose Collom Construction, which did the job beautifully. Collom corrected known issues, and identified and resolved additional construction defects by the first contractor that we did not know about. "We first hired Collom Construction back in 1994 to complete numerous design and remodeling projects to our then home in Sunset Cliffs including designing and building new partial underground garage. We were very pleased with the quality of his work and the experience of working with him, and continued to take advantage of Collom for additional improvements over the next three years. In 2002 a broken water pipe flooded a section of the house and all our records for the home improvements were destroyed. Years after that when we sold the house and wanted to address capital gains, we knew our only chance for tax relief was that Michael might still have his records for the home improvements we made! At best, it was a long shot, since this was more than twenty-three years after-the-fact, but to our great relief, he did! "About three and a half years ago we hired Michael to redo our guest bathroom. We were so pleased with his price and the results of his work that when we decided to redo our whole home last spring we hired him again. Through many idea changes to arrive at exactly what we wanted and could afford. Michael was always helpful and patient. When our wishes exceeded our budget he worked with us to find ways to cut costs without sacrificing our dreams. To do this he put in many hours of work before we signed the dotted line. "Michael Has been doing projects and remodeling around my home for nine years. Whenever I feel the need to update or remodel, I automatically call Michael, without regard to "shopping" around for the best estimate. My trust in Michael's character and honesty as well as the high quality of his work, makes my decision to remodel very easy for me. Over the years, Michael has done the following additions and remodeling in my home: Laundry room addition, interior painting of entire house, replaced rod-iron hand railing with a solid oak and white pine Bannister, and then several years later, he enclosed the open staircase that was wrapped with carpet, and replaced the carpeting with solid oak treads. That is one thing very good about working with Michael. He understands that not all projects can be completed at once, and he does make the effort to do things incrementally. Michael has also added a window to an upstairs bedroom, ordered and installed wood blinds for the all downstairs rooms, and added a patio cover to the upstairs balcony Most recently, Michael completely gutted and remodeled the master bathroom. The utilization of the same space is remarkable! Michael does high quality work in the time period he sets up. He is pleasant and takes his time in making sure that all things are covered and that the job is completed to the customer's satisfaction. His work crews are courteous and helpful. He is honest to a fault sometimes! And one more thing; if you do shop around, you will find that Michael's prices are competitive, but his pleasant personality and quality of work cannot be matched."
